On December 22, I coordinated a wedding at Denton Bible Church. It was a low key wedding, nothing fancy, but it was very meaningful. I enjoyed all the personal touches in the ceremony. The officiate, Brian Leicht, did a great job and was very personal. The couple met on e-Harmony and were married about a year later. They were older and wanted to keep the wedding simple. The chapel was already decorated for Christmas so they didn't have to do much in regards to decorating the chapel.
We had to start the wedding almost 10 minutes late due to the mother of the groom being a little late. Traffic is bad around this time of year and there happened to be a an accident that caused the traffic to back up. I certainly didn't want to start the wedding without her and we were so glad that she made it. These are things that you can not plan for and have to make decisions at the last minute. I always check with the bride and groom about any changes that need to take place. This caused a little stress, but great relief when she showed up. It all worked out great. It was a very special and meaningful wedding.
The cake was pretty. These are real flowers on the cake.
One thing that was unique was that when the couple left, they were given ribbons with bells attached. The guests jingled the bells as the couple left. I thought that was an appropriate way to leave a Christmas wedding.
New Years Eve Christmas Lights
Yes, we finally got around to seeing the Deerfield Christmas lights on New Years Eve. Deerfield is a community in Plano, TX, which is a city just south of where we live. The Deerfield community has been doing a light display for more than 20 years. This is the first time we went. This is one of the premier communities for viewing Chrismas lights. They also have a contest and I have taken some pictures of some of the winners. It was amazing!
This house won for most traditional. I liked the nutcrackers at the door.
This house was pretty. It's hard to see, but there is a large Santa on the balcony.
This house won the funniest award. It was cute.
These pictures don't do these houses justice, but it was pretty.
An elaborate manger scence. It was incredible.
This was another unique manger scene.
It's nice to see so many celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.
And then there were several with dalmations.
This was one of my favorites. Very unique.
Here is a close up of the house above with the balloon Christmas figures in the window. It reminded me that you can do so much with balloons at events. At my own wedding we had adorable bride and groom balloon figures on our gift table. From what I hear Helium is hard to come by these days, but these balloons do not require it. Very cute!
This house won 3rd place. I didn't get a good picture, but the deer were really great.
and what says Christmas more than Santa on a motorcycle? :-)
Winner of the 1st place award. This was quite elaborate.
Here is another view of the 1st place winner.
This was a fun way of spending New Years. We have been so busy this year, it was nice to spend time together.
This weekend is another wedding at the ranch that I am coordinating so I hope to have some good pictures of this wedding as well.
